ASA University Clubs
Benefits:
ASA University Clubs offer a variety of benefits to their members. As
an offshoot of a sales association, the emphasis is on sales and ethics
as an integral part of any business. They share the expertise of sales
professionals who value training and have goals of educating the
membership and helping them learn about the business world. The
students are provided opportunities for personal growth and
direction within an educational setting. One of the goals of the
clubs is to provide assistance to the membership in the way of
scholarships and internships. The clubs’ purpose of promoting the
professionalism of sales through education will also provide direction
to the students in their future endeavors.
Scholarships:
The ASA will award a one thousand dollar scholarship to a student
excelling in the school of business who is need of financial
assistance. Depending upon company and university sponsorship,
numerous scholarships may be awarded. Scholarship applications will
be submitted to the ASA University Club faculty advisor for
consideration. Scholarship winners will be determined by the Club
faculty advisor and the ASA Scholarship Committee.
Internships:
The American Sales Association will work closely with businesses in
order to create internship programs for members of the ASA
University Clubs. The internship program will offer opportunities to
all business students, not exclusively to sales or marketing majors.
Businesses that are involved with the ASA internship program will be
selected by the ASA Board of Directors and will be monitored
throughout the student’s term of employment. The goal of the
program is to provide varied experiences in all areas of the business
world.
Job Placement:
ASA will work with Companies to provide interviewing opportunities
and to encourage job placement for ASA club members. The
members will have a chance to go through the interviewing process
and learn about various businesses. The goal will be future job
placement and will be monitored by the ASA Job Placement
Committee.
The future of the student is the main priority and the job match-up
should be one that offers the student a chance to perform in a
professional manner in a business setting.
Speakers Bureau:
ASA University Clubs are encouraged to have speakers at their
monthly meetings. These speakers will come from different areas of
the business and educational systems. Speakers will present topics
on all types of business subjects. ASA University Clubs are
encouraged to get speakers who have both knowledge and
experience in their fields.
Local chapters of SCORE, Chambers of Commerce, schools of higher
education, the government and other sources can be utilized to
obtain speakers. If there is a fee for a speaker local sponsorship will
be sought. The American Sales Association will assist Clubs in
negotiating fees.
Community Involvement:
ASA University Clubs are responsible not only to its membership and
the University, but also the community in which the school is based.
Participation in charitable projects will be encouraged, establishing a
positive link between the university and the community.
Professional Certification:
The members can be certified as sales professionals. This can be
accomplished in several different ways. Members who earn an
Associates Degree or a Bachelors Degree and complete an accredited
course on Sales Techniques and Ethics provided by ASA can achieve
certification.
Students will receive a CSP (Certified Sales Professional) designation
upon completion of the ASA Sales Course and graduation. The
American Sales Association is the only sales organization requiring
accredited education as a prerequisite for certification. These
credentials will enhance the students’ resume when entering the
job market.
Certification costs will be absorbed through corporate and university
sponsorship. To maintain the CSP designation individuals will pay
yearly membership dues to the American Sales Association after
graduation.
Continuing Education:
Members of the ASA are encouraged to continue their education
either through credit or non-credit programs. The American Sales
Association offers programs on a nation-wide scale to ensure ethical
and professional training/education. It is essential that classes and
training meet the standards of the American Sales Association of
quality learning and professional development. Continuing Education
Unit (CEU) designated programs will be accepted by the American
Sales Association.
Affiliation with a National Professional Trade Association
The American Sales Association was created to maintain
professionalism and ethics in all areas of the business sector. The
standards set in the mission statement and the by-laws of the
Association are highly recognized in the business community. All
members are expected to act in a professional business manner and
maintain the ethical standards set down by the ASA.
